There is only one criterion for receiving tuition assistance from The Robert M. Morand Scholarship Fund: The student must be a resident of the City of Detroit.
Why?
Fr. Bob saw the closing of Catholic schools in Detroit as a tragedy. He believed city residents deserve the highest educational opportunities possible, and for decades, he was able to help provide that quality education through St. Martin DePorres High School. The Archdiocese of Detroit closed DePorres in 2005. Fr. Bob felt compelled to find other ways to help Detroit citizens attend Catholic high school in the city.
